According to reports, the deadly crash occurred around 2:15 p.m. on June 26 at a private, uncontrolled crossing near the intersection of Los Angeles Avenue and Montair Drive in Moorpark. Metrolink Ventura County Line Train 118 was traveling southbound with 17 passengers and two crew members aboard when it struck the semi-truck.
The violent impact tore the front end of the big rig apart, dragging it an unknown distance down the tracks before it became wedged beneath the train. Dramatic footage from the scene showed the mangled remains of the semi’s front section with one tire still attached.
