Upper Mount Bethel Township, PA (September 22, 2025) – A woman from Bangor, Pennsylvania, was killed Saturday evening in a two-vehicle crash involving a New Jersey driver in the Slate Belt region, authorities confirmed.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the fatal collision occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on September 20 at the intersection of Riverton Road and Deer Run Road in Upper Mount Bethel Township. A 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by a 36-year-old man from Phillipsburg, New Jersey, was traveling westbound on Deer Run Road when it struck the passenger side of a northbound 2022 Volkswagen Taos.

The impact forced both vehicles off the road, where they came to rest in the northwest corner of the intersection.

Beverly M. Schirripa, 63, of Bangor, who was riding as a passenger in the Volkswagen, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Volkswagen, a 61-year-old Bangor man, sustained serious injuries and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital–Mount Pocono. The driver of the Chevrolet suffered minor injuries and was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital–Anderson.

Troopers confirmed that both occupants of the Volkswagen were wearing seat belts, while the Chevrolet driver was not. The crash remains under investigation.
