Newfield, NY (October 7, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle collision in the Town of Newfield claimed the life of a local man on Sunday morning.
According to the New York State Police, the fatal crash occurred around 11:13 a.m. on October 5 at the intersection of West Danby Road (State Route 34/96) and Decker Road. Authorities say a 2020 Honda CR-V, traveling east on Decker Road, attempted to cross West Danby Road when it entered the path of a southbound 2019 Toyota 4-Runner.
The Toyota struck the driver’s side of the Honda CR-V, sending both vehicles into a nearby yard on the east side of the road.
The driver of the Honda, 31-year-old Shaquille M. Stuttle of Newfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota was airlifted to a trauma center and has since been released.
The crash is under investigation by the New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
