Cayuta, New York (July 8, 2026) – A two vehicle crash at the intersection of State Route 224 and State Route 13 in Cayuta early Sunday morning left one passenger dead and several others injured, according to New York State Police.
According to the New York State Police, the collision occurred at approximately 4:58 a.m. on July 5 at the intersection of State Route 224 and State Route 13 in Schuyler County. Investigators said a 2023 Tesla traveling northbound on State Route 224 allegedly entered the intersection after failing to stop for a red traffic signal, where it was struck by an eastbound 2023 Dodge Charger driven by Bryan J. Woodworth, 52, of Elmira. The Tesla was occupied by four people. A rear seat passenger later died at Robert Packer Hospital. The Tesla driver sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while another passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and a third passenger was evaluated with no apparent injuries. Woodworth was transported to Arnot Ogden Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and Forensic Identification Unit are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
