Lampasas County, TX (October 14, 2025) – A devastating two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Belton woman Sunday morning just outside the city of Kempner.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident took place at approximately 9:59 a.m. on October 12 on United States Highway 190 at mile marker 546. Authorities say 51-year-old Malena Mick was driving a 2010 Ford Edge and had stopped on the westbound shoulder before attempting to make a U-turn to travel east. In the process, her vehicle entered the path of a westbound 2008 Ford Explorer driven by a 65-year-old man from Copperas Cove.

The Explorer collided with the driver’s side of the Ford Edge. Mick was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two 13-year-olds in Mick’s vehicle were airlifted to McLane Children’s Hospital in Temple with serious injuries. The driver of the Explorer and a female passenger, both 65, were transported to AdventHealth Central Texas in Killeen. All suffered serious injuries.

An investigation remains ongoing.
