Reno, NV (September 29, 2026) – A late-night wrong-way collision on South McCarran Boulevard claimed the lives of three Reno residents Friday.
According to the Reno Police Department, the two-vehicle crash occurred at about 11:50 p.m. on September 25 between Sierra Madre Drive and Rio Poco Road. Investigators said a woman driving an SUV was traveling the wrong way on South McCarran Boulevard when the SUV collided head-on with a westbound passenger car.
The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office identified the SUV driver as 38-year-old Nicole Lucero of Reno. Lucero was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.
The two occupants of the other vehicle were identified as 52-year-old Michelle Dubois and 54-year-old Scott Dubois, both of Reno. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner determined that all three died from blunt force injuries.
Police said alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the collision. South McCarran Boulevard remained closed for approximately five hours while investigators worked at the scene.
