Miami, FL (November 3, 2025) – Two people were killed and two others seriously injured early Sunday morning in a pair of back-to-back wrong-way crashes on Florida’s Turnpike near Bird Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the first crash occurred around 4:00 a.m. on November 2, when a blue Honda traveling south in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike collided head-on with a silver Toyota. Both vehicles were left disabled and blocked the roadway.
Moments later, a second crash occurred when a white Toyota — also traveling the wrong way — struck the two disabled vehicles and a stopped FHP patrol vehicle. Fortunately, the responding trooper was outside of the vehicle at the time and was not injured.
The drivers of the Honda and the silver Toyota were pronounced dead at the scene. Two occupants of the white Toyota sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to Kendall HCA Hospital.
All northbound lanes were closed for several hours as authorities worked the scene and launched a full investigation.
