News sources show that Wareham Police responded to Beach Street around 9:19 p.m. on July 4 after reports of a serious fireworks injury. Witnesses said Robert Spagnuolo of Wareham was setting off fireworks at the beach when one exploded in his face, causing a fatal facial injury. Sadly, Spagnuolo was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency response efforts.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death. The incident remains under investigation by Wareham Police, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, the State Police Bomb Squad, and the Massachusetts Fire Marshal’s Office.
