Lake Havasu City, AZ (July 12, 2025) — A devastating flash fire inside a hyperbaric chamber has claimed the life of a local man at a medical facility in Lake Havasu City late Wednesday night.
According to reports, firefighters and police officers were dispatched just before 11 p.m. on July 9 to a facility near Mesquite Avenue and Civic Center Lane after receiving reports of a burn patient. Crews arrived to find the building filled with smoke and quickly located a hyperbaric chamber where the fire had occurred.
The victim, identified as 43-year-old Walter Foxcroft of Lake Havasu City, was pronounced dead at the scene. Known as “Wally,” Foxcroft was beloved in the Arizona community for his time as the University of Arizona’s mascot, Wilbur T. Wildcat, from 2002 to 2005. He was remembered fondly for his spirit, showmanship, and dedication to uplifting others.
