Bakersfield, CA (June 3, 2025) – A serious crash caused disruptions Monday morning as emergency crews responded to a devastating head-on collision.
According to reports, the accident occurred around 8:19 a.m. on June 2 along Tejon Highway, just north of Mountain View Road. A Honda Accord traveling southbound reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a big rig hauling two trailers.
First responders arrived to find the Honda driver trapped inside the vehicle. After extrication, the victim was transported to Kern Medical with major injuries. The big rig’s driver was not harmed.
The crash led to a three-hour closure of Tejon Highway in both directions while crews worked to clear the scene and clean up diesel fuel that had spilled during the impact.
Authorities from the California Highway Patrol are investigating the potential role of drugs or alcohol in the crash.
