Lordsburg, NM (December 22, 2025) – A deadly head-on crash involving a passenger vehicle and a semitruck shut down a portion of Interstate 10 Friday afternoon just outside Lordsburg, according to New Mexico State Police.
According to the New Mexico State Police, the crash occurred around 12:15 p.m. on December 19 near mile marker 46 on Interstate 10. A Honda Accord, traveling westbound, reportedly crossed the center median and entered the eastbound lanes, colliding head-on with a semitruck. The violent impact caused the semitruck to overturn, scattering debris across the highway.
The driver of the Honda was trapped in the vehicle, prompting officers to use breaching tools to extract them. Despite efforts to save their life, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said there is currently no indication that alcohol played a role in the crash.
Eastbound lanes of I-10 were closed for several hours and reopened by approximately 4:30 p.m.
