Coos County, OR (October 7, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle collision in Coos County claimed the life of a Reedsport woman Saturday morning and sent two others to the hospital.
According to the Oregon State Police, the fatal accident occurred around 10:44 a.m. on October 4 on Highway 42 near milepost 27. Authorities say 37-year-old Heather Renee Leach was driving a Chevrolet 1500 eastbound when, for unknown reasons, she lost control and veered into the westbound lanes.
Her vehicle collided head-on with a Ford F-350 driven by 56-year-old Nicholas Glenn Taylor of Grants Pass. His passenger, 53-year-old Holly Helene Taylor, was also in the vehicle.
Leach was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. Both occupants of the Ford were transported to a local hospital with injuries. Their current conditions have not been updated.
The highway remained impacted for approximately two hours while the scene was cleared and investigators documented the area.
