Columbus, OH (June 26, 2025) — A woman was left in critical condition following a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning at the intersection of Kenny Road and West 5th Avenue, according to Columbus police.

According to reports, the crash occurred June 23 when a pedestrian was crossing legally in a marked crosswalk. A silver or grey 2024-2025 Hyundai Santa Fe traveling east on West 5th Avenue attempted to turn left onto Kenny Road and struck the woman, then fled the scene without stopping.

The victim was transported to The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, including a fractured skull and massive brain hemorrhage. Witnesses told police they were walking just ahead of the victim and heard a loud thud before turning to see her airborne, confirming they had the right of way at the time of the crash.

Officers located sandals in the roadway north of the intersection. The hit-and-run remains under investigation, with police actively seeking the vehicle and its driver.
