Pleasant Township, OH (June 9, 2025) — A deadly head-on collision occurred late Sunday morning in Putnam County, leaving one woman dead and two others injured. The crash took place just before noon on June 8 near State Route 65 and Road M in Pleasant Township, close to Ottawa.
According to reports, 74-year-old Nancy Gerken of Holgate was traveling southbound when a northbound vehicle, driven by a 43-year-old Ottawa woman, crossed the center line and struck Gerken’s vehicle head-on. Tragically, Gerken was pronounced dead at the scene. A 13-year-old passenger in her vehicle was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, as was the driver of the other vehicle.
Troopers confirmed that all parties involved were wearing seatbelts at the time. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
