Portland, OR (July 30, 2025) – A high-speed crash involving a stolen vehicle led to two pedestrians being struck and injured in Northwest Portland on Sunday afternoon, July 27.
According to reports, the incident began around 1:02 p.m. when officers from the Central Precinct attempted a traffic stop on a reported stolen vehicle near Northwest 9th Avenue and West Burnside Street. The driver refused to stop and sped away through the Pearl District. Officers did not pursue the vehicle but later found it crashed at Northwest 6th Avenue and Northwest Glisan Street.
The driver, identified as 28-year-old Amin Noor Mohamed of Portland, appeared to have lost control and struck two pedestrians at the intersection. One pedestrian suffered minor injuries, while the other sustained serious injuries. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for medical care.
Mohamed was not injured and was arrested at the scene. He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center and faces a lengthy list of charges including Assault in the Second Degree, DUII (Drugs), Reckless Driving, Failure to Perform Duties of a Driver, Unlawful Use and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, and multiple counts related to attempting to elude police.
Street closures remained in place for several hours while the Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team conducted their investigation.
