Tempe, AZ (July 12, 2025) — An early morning crash involving multiple vehicles along the U.S. Highway 60 in Tempe sent five people to the hospital on Friday.
According to reports, the collision occurred at approximately 4:18 a.m. on July 11 in the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 60 between Mill Avenue and Priest Drive. The Arizona Department of Public Safety stated that a worker on board a Bob’s Barricade attenuator truck was collecting traffic barricades when the truck was struck from behind by a Dodge pickup truck.
The impact caused the pickup to spin out before it was hit by a passing box truck. Emergency crews responded quickly and transported at least five people to area hospitals for further treatment, including the driver of the pickup truck who suffered serious injuries.
Westbound U.S. Highway 60 was closed for several hours during the investigation but has since reopened at Mill Avenue. Eastbound traffic was not affected.
