Westminster, OH (July 14, 2025) — A tragic collision claimed the life of a Virginia man in a head-on crash just outside Westminster early Saturday morning. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that the crash happened on July 12 around 7:12 a.m. along Bellefontaine Road, just east of Waynesfield Road in Allen County.
News sources show that Jeffrey O. Tibbitts, 67, of Front Royal, Virginia, was driving a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek southeast on State Route 117 when a 2017 GMC Terrain driven by 20-year-old Ahiyah Moss crossed the center line while attempting to pass three vehicles. The impact sent Tibbitts’ vehicle off the roadway and into a ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Moss and her passenger, 18-year-old Alexandria L. Morton, both from Springfield, Ohio, sustained minor injuries. Morton was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital for additional treatment. The Ohio State Highway Patrol, along with the Waynesfield Rural Fire Department and Perry Township Fire Department, assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
