According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred around 4:57 a.m. on October 19 at the intersection of Main Street (State Route 67) and Julian Street. Mess was traveling northbound on a three-wheel motorized mobility scooter in low-light conditions when she was struck from behind by a vehicle.
