Castaic, CA (August 10, 2025) — A Kern County firefighter has been identified as Battalion Chief James Agee, who was seriously injured Friday evening, August 8, when his truck rolled nearly 200 feet down a steep hillside near the Canyon Fire in Castaic. The crash occurred around 7:00 p.m. near the 31000 block of Romero Canyon Road, south of Castaic High School.
According to reports, Chief Agee’s vehicle overturned over a ridge before coming to rest down the hillside. Fellow firefighters responded to the scene, locating him outside the vehicle with major injuries. He was airlifted to Henry Mayo Medical Center in Valencia for emergency treatment.
