According to reports, the crash occurred shortly before 2 p.m. near the intersection of West Saticoy Street and Cleon Avenue. Authorities say a man, believed to be between 60 and 70 years old, was making a left turn when his vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by an LAPD cruiser that was responding to a domestic violence restraining order call.
The man was trapped inside his car and had to be extricated by firefighters using hydraulic tools. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Friends later identified him as Jose, a family man who had just left a nearby home where he picked up desserts.
