Merced County, CA (August 2, 2025) – A serious pedestrian-involved collision on State Route 99 Thursday morning left one person with major injuries and disrupted northbound traffic near the Atwater-Merced Expressway offramp.
According to reports, the crash occurred around 7:43 a.m. on August 1, when a pedestrian reportedly ran across the northbound lanes of State Route 99 and was struck by a vehicle just south of the expressway. The California Highway Patrol and emergency medical crews responded quickly to the scene.
By 7:54 a.m., CHP classified the incident as a major injury crash. The injured pedestrian was transported to an area hospital for emergency treatment. Authorities have not released details about their condition or identity.
