Long Beach, CA (November 1, 2025) – Authorities have identified the victim of Friday morning’s deadly freeway collision in Long Beach as 69-year-old Mark Cassidy.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 7:20 a.m. on October 31 on the northbound lanes of the San Diego (405) Freeway near the Long Beach (710) Freeway interchange. The collision involved two vehicles of unknown make and model.
Paramedics with the Long Beach Fire Department responded quickly and attempted life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, Cassidy was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:51 a.m.
A SigAlert was issued shortly after the crash, shutting down the HOV lane and lanes 1 and 2 until approximately 11:10 a.m. as crews investigated and cleared the scene.
