Los Angeles, CA (September 7, 2025) – A motorcyclist was killed Saturday morning in a deadly crash involving a box truck on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway in downtown Los Angeles.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred around 9:45 a.m. just north of the Pomona (60) Freeway. Authorities say a motorcycle collided with a box truck under still-uncertain circumstances.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner also responded to assist with the investigation and removal.
Due to the crash and subsequent investigation, four lanes of the southbound 5 Freeway near Fourth Street were shut down for several hours, causing significant traffic delays in the area.
The CHP is leading the ongoing investigation into what caused the fatal crash.
