Lubbock, TX (October 16, 2025) – A police pursuit ended in a violent multi-car crash on October 15, leaving two people injured in Lubbock near the intersection of Slide Road and 54th Street.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident began around 9:55 a.m. when officers attempted to stop a stolen truck near the 2600 block of 34th Street. The driver refused to stop, initiating a pursuit. During an attempt to contain the vehicle, the truck collided with a police cruiser.

The chase continued southbound on Slide Road where the stolen truck struck a passenger vehicle turning westbound onto 54th Street. The impact caused the stolen vehicle to overturn several times before slamming into a utility pole.

Perry Clark, 71, the driver of the struck passenger car, was seriously injured and taken to University Medical Center. The suspected driver of the stolen vehicle, Dusty Grubbs, 28, also sustained moderate injuries and was hospitalized. Three additional occupants were in the stolen truck at the time of the crash.

The collision remains under investigation.
