Mecca, CA (February 3, 2026) — Eight people were hospitalized following a three-vehicle crash in Mecca on the afternoon of January 28, including a four-year-old child who remains in critical condition.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of 66th Avenue and Buchanan Street. Initial reports indicated a head-on collision, but CHP later clarified it involved a silver Toyota 4Runner that rear-ended a silver Chevrolet Silverado. The impact forced that Silverado into the back of a white Chevrolet Silverado.
Emergency personnel airlifted a young child to Loma Linda University Medical Center in critical condition. Three other individuals were taken to area hospitals with injuries ranging from moderate to major. Four more sustained minor injuries. All eight victims were traveling in the two Silverado trucks.
