Portland, OR (October 11, 2025) – A crash involving a TriMet bus and an SUV left seven people injured Thursday night in east Portland, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
The collision occurred around 10 p.m. on October 9 at the intersection of East Burnside Street and East 79th Avenue. Authorities say 38-year-old Kelly O’Brien was behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz SUV when she collided with the public transit bus.
The impact injured the bus driver and five passengers, two of whom were children. All were taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries. O’Brien was also hospitalized and later arrested. She is now facing multiple charges, including driving under the influence, reckless driving, and third-degree assault.
