Houston, TX (September 25, 2025) – A Houston Police Department officer was injured early Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash at a busy intersection on the city’s west side.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision occurred shortly after midnight on September 23 at Hillcroft Avenue and Westheimer Road. Authorities stated that the HPD patrol vehicle was traveling north on Hillcroft through a green light when it was struck by a Ford Explorer heading west on Westheimer.
The driver of the Ford admitted to running the red light and struck the rear of the patrol unit. The officer, who reported a headache after the crash, was transported to a hospital as a precaution. The Ford’s driver and passenger were not hurt.
Police confirmed that the Ford driver showed no signs of impairment but will face a citation for the red-light violation.
