A black Ford Escape, driven by 20-year-old Alezander Cruz of Austin, was heading southbound on Kelley Drive when it struck an Oncor utility truck parked at a job site. The impact forced the Oncor truck into another vehicle, hitting three workers standing between them. One worker managed to escape uninjured.

A 20-year-old male worker from College Station died at the scene. Two others sustained injuries and were taken to local hospitals. Cruz was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault. A passenger fled the crash site and remains at large.
