Pasco, WA (January 29, 2025) – A fatal crash on Highway 12 in Pasco claimed the life of 63-year-old Eric L. Wommack of Pomeroy on Wednesday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).
The accident occurred around 8:40 a.m. on State Route 12 at Sacajawea Park Road. Authorities reported that Wommack was driving a white Ford Ranger westbound when his vehicle was struck by a semi-truck hauling a double tanker trailer. The semi was driven by 50-year-old Alvin E. Ortiz of Richland.
Wommack was trapped in the wreckage and pronounced deceased at the scene. Ortiz was uninjured. Police indicated that Ortiz was at fault for the crash, though heavy fog in the area may have contributed to the incident.
The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the collision.
