News sources show that troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to the fatal accident just after 11 p.m. on June 28. The victim, identified as 35-year-old Carol Polk of Erath, was walking westbound in the left lane of Louisiana Highway 14 near Callahan Street when she was hit by a 2021 Nissan SUV traveling in the same direction.
