According to reports, the incident occurred around 7:53 p.m. on August 4 at the intersection of Franklin Street and North 6th Street. The man was standing near the driveway apron of a Shell gas station when he attempted to cross Franklin Street between a pickup truck and its trailer.
As the traffic signal turned green, the driver began moving eastbound and struck the pedestrian, knocking him to the ground. Emergency personnel transported the man to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:20 p.m.
Authorities have not released the pedestrian’s identity but confirmed he was elderly. The driver remained at the scene after being alerted by other motorists, and no charges have been announced at this time.
