Houston, TX. (October 19, 2025) – A young man has died from injuries he sustained earlier this month in a pedestrian crash in Houston’s northside area.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m. on October 4 in the 500 block of Crosstimbers Street, near Oxford Street. Authorities say Roosevelt Anthony Ervin, 54, was driving a gray Toyota Corolla southbound on Oxford when he failed to stop or turn at the intersection.
Ervin’s vehicle struck a 22-year-old pedestrian who was in the crosswalk. After hitting the pedestrian, the Corolla continued on and crashed into a nearby building.
The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and remained under care until he succumbed to his injuries on October 15. His name has not yet been released pending family notification.
Police determined that Ervin was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was arrested at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
