Anaheim, CA (December 14, 2025) – Eight high school track athletes were injured Wednesday afternoon, December 11, when a Toyota Corolla veered off the road and struck the group as they waited to cross the street in Anaheim. The crash happened around 2:55 p.m. near the southwest corner of North Harbor Boulevard and North Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the teens — all students at Anaheim High School, ages 16 and 17 — were waiting for the light to change when the southbound Corolla suddenly left the roadway. Seven students were transported to local hospitals with injuries, and one remains hospitalized as of Friday. That student’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The driver, identified as 27-year-old Anthony Alva-Palafox of Anaheim, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. He was hospitalized and later bailed out. Lab results to confirm intoxication are pending.
