Elk Grove, CA (September 9, 2025) – A heartbreaking tragedy occurred Sunday afternoon when a 3-year-old girl was fatally struck by a vehicle backing out of a driveway in Elk Grove.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 3:44 p.m. on September 7 in the 9800 block of Point Pleasant Road. A Nissan sedan was reversing out of a driveway when it hit the young girl, who was standing behind the vehicle with a 33-year-old man.
Cosumnes Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and performed life-saving efforts before transporting the child to a nearby hospital. Despite emergency treatment, she was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
The driver of the Nissan, a 29-year-old woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. CHP confirmed that impairment is not suspected in the crash.
