Bakersfield, CA (July 7, 2025) — A deadly hit-and-run crash in south Bakersfield is under investigation after a man was found dead along South Union Avenue Friday morning.
According to reports, the Bakersfield Police Department responded around 9:39 a.m. on July 5 to the 8100 block of South Union Avenue near Hosking Avenue after receiving reports of a person down along the shoulder of the northbound lanes. Officers arrived to find an adult male showing clear signs of having been struck by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities believe the vehicle that hit the man fled the scene before officers arrived. The victim’s identity will be released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office once his family has been notified. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information about the driver involved to contact BPD at 661-327-7111.
