Jackson County, FL (January 27, 2026) – A tragic late-night crash on State Road 77 has claimed the life of a 22-year-old pedestrian who was struck by two vehicles, according to authorities.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred just after midnight on January 24. A 23-year-old man from Alabama was traveling northbound on SR-77 when the pedestrian, a resident of Caryville, stepped into the roadway from the east shoulder and stood in the path of the oncoming silver pickup truck.
The pedestrian was struck and thrown into the southbound lane, where a 35-year-old woman from Chipley, driving an SUV, struck the individual a second time. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported from either driver involved.
