Beverly, MA (June 20, 2025) — A fatal plane crash occurred Thursday morning near Beverly Regional Airport, claiming the life of one man and leaving another critically injured.
News sources show the single-engine aircraft went down on Sam Fonzo Drive at approximately 8:50 a.m. on June 19. The small plane had just taken off when it descended abruptly, crashing into the roadway in an industrial area. The force of the impact left the plane heavily damaged and debris scattered across the asphalt and nearby trees. The aircraft also struck a utility pole upon impact.
According to Beverly Police Chief John G. LeLacheur, one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Another occupant of the plane was transported to Beverly Hospital in critical condition. The crash took place on a road where many local businesses were closed in observance of Juneteenth.
The Federal Aviation Administration, National Transportation Safety Board, and Essex County District Attorney’s Office are leading the investigation.
