Portland, ME (January 3, 2025) – A 61-year-old man from Portland sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by an SUV on Friday afternoon in the area of 33 India Street, according to the Portland Police Department.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:20 PM when a 69-year-old woman from Falmouth, driving an SUV, reportedly stopped at the intersection of Fore and India Streets. While attempting to make a left turn onto India Street, the driver struck the pedestrian.

Emergency personnel responded quickly, and the victim was transported to Maine Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Portland Police Department and its Crash Reconstruction Team. Authorities have not filed charges at this time.
