Riviera Beach, FL (January 18, 2025) – A tragic crash on East Blue Heron Boulevard on Thursday claimed the life of a motorcyclist and left his passenger seriously injured.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) reported that the collision occurred west of Phil Foster Park. A 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2021 Nissan Versa were both traveling westbound when the motorcycle, reportedly exceeding the 35 mph speed limit, collided with the rear of the Nissan.
The motorcyclist, 59-year-old Lawrence Begnoche of Boynton Beach, and his passenger, 58-year-old Jamie Leach-Cato of West Palm Beach, were ejected upon impact. Begnoche was pronounced dead at the scene, while Leach-Cato sustained serious injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment.
The driver and passenger of the Nissan Versa were unharmed, with PBSO confirming they were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the collision.
