Fox Lake, IL (December 2, 2025) – A dangerous snowstorm contributed to a serious crash late Saturday night after a semi-truck jackknifed and collided with multiple vehicles on Route 12 near Fox Lake. The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. on November 30 in the 37500 block of Route 12 near Lake Vista Terrace.
According to the Illinois State Police, the semi-truck was heading southbound when it lost control attempting to brake in snowy conditions. The trailer swung into the northbound lane, striking a pickup truck and at least two other vehicles. Emergency crews, including the Fox Lake Fire Protection District, responded promptly. The driver of the pickup truck had to be extricated from his vehicle.
Four ambulances were dispatched to the scene. Three individuals were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
