Bakersfield, CA (October 1, 2024) – Stephen Michael Prough, a 60-year-old resident of Weldon, has been identified as the motorcyclist who tragically lost his life in a crash on Friday evening in Lake Isabella.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the fatal accident occurred around 5:16 p.m. on Highway 178 near the entrance to McCray Road.

Reports indicate that Prough was riding his Honda motorcycle eastbound on SR 178 when a 2009 Chevrolet truck made a left turn onto the highway, resulting in a collision. Prough was ejected from his motorcycle and landed on the roadway.

He succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. The CHP is conducting an ongoing investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision.
