East Windsor, NJ (December 9, 2025) — A devastating accident on the New Jersey Turnpike claimed three lives, including a child, after a tractor-trailer veered onto the shoulder and struck a parked SUV in Mercer County.
According to the New Jersey State Police, the crash occurred around 1:39 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2025, near milepost 64.6 in East Windsor Township. A GMC SUV was parked on the right shoulder of the southbound Turnpike when a Peterbilt tractor-trailer, driven by 33-year-old Dmitriy I. Kara of Philadelphia, suddenly left the roadway and collided with the vehicle.
Elin R. Waithe, 44, was standing outside the SUV at the time of the crash. Quacy Waithe, 47, was in the driver’s seat, and two minors were seated in the rear. Tragically, Elin Waithe, Quacy Waithe, and one minor were pronounced dead at the scene. Kara sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
