Santa Ynez, CA (July 20, 2025) – A serious single-vehicle crash sent an elderly woman to the hospital with major injuries Saturday afternoon after her pickup truck plunged approximately 100 feet off the side of a rural road in Santa Ynez.

According to reports, the incident was first reported around 3:24 p.m. on July 19 along the 3200 block of Avenida Caballo. Firefighters from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to the scene and located the crashed vehicle deep off the roadway.

Authorities said the elderly woman, who had been driving the truck, sustained major injuries in the steep crash and required emergency air transport to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment. The vehicle came to rest roughly 100 feet from the road, prompting a complex rescue operation by emergency personnel.
