Culberson County, TX (September 11, 2025) – A deadly collision Tuesday morning claimed the life of a woman and injured another driver in a rural area outside Van Horn.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal two-car crash took place on September 9 at the intersection of Interstate 10 and U.S. Highway 90. Investigators say 19-year-old Kelvin Matthew Lee-Armenta of Harlingen was driving westbound on the I-10 access road when he allegedly failed to stop while attempting to evade a Texas DPS trooper.
His vehicle struck a northbound car driven by 64-year-old Martha Zabrosky of Alpine. Zabrosky was transported to Culberson Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Lee-Armenta was taken to UMC for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition. The DPS continues to investigate the events leading up to the crash.
