York County, MD (October 26, 2024) – A tragic accident on I-83 North near the York County line in Maryland has resulted in the deaths of two individuals. The incident forced a portion of the highway to be shut down.
According to Maryland State Police, the crash occurred when a southbound pickup truck hauling a trailer lost control and veered into the northbound lanes. The truck collided with a mobile crane, causing both vehicles to catch fire. The impact triggered additional collisions involving three other vehicles near Exit 33 at York Road.
Authorities confirmed that the drivers of both the pickup truck and the mobile crane were pronounced dead at the scene. Four other individuals involved in the crash were transported to WellSpan York Hospital for medical treatment.
Multiple emergency response teams, including the Baltimore County Fire Department and Hereford Volunteer Fire Company, were present at the scene. The cause of the accident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine what led to the collision.
