The incident was reported at approximately 12:33 a.m. when the CHP Monterey Communications Center received an iPhone crash notification indicating a possible accident on Highway 25, south of Bloomfield Avenue. Responding officers arrived to find two vehicles blocking the roadway, with both drivers unresponsive.
The crash involved a 2018 Nissan Sentra driven by a 24-year-old man from Gilroy, traveling southbound on Highway 25, and a 2012 Dodge Charger driven by a 35-year-old woman heading northbound. According to CHP, the Nissan crossed the double yellow lines for unknown reasons, resulting in a head-on collision.
One of the victims was identified as Priscilla Jones, a 911 dispatcher for Santa Clara County, as confirmed by the medical examiner. Tragically, both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident.
