Burbank, CA (October 21, 2025) – A wrong-way collision on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Burbank early Sunday morning left one man dead and others involved in a multi-vehicle wreck.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 3:45 a.m. on October 19, 2025, on the northbound side of Interstate 5 near Alameda Avenue. Officials say a vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it collided head-on with another vehicle in the number one lane. A third car then crashed into the first vehicle and overturned.
The wrong-way driver, identified as 52-year-old Martin Reyes Gomez, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. Alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the collision. The condition of the other involved motorists was not immediately released.
