Houston, TX (October 29, 2025) — A wrong-way collision early Tuesday morning on the Katy Freeway tragically left one person dead and another hospitalized with critical injuries, according to Houston police.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the deadly crash happened just after 12:00 a.m. on October 28 near the Washington/Westcott exit. A silver BMW was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when it collided head-on with a silver Tesla Cybertruck.
The violent impact caused the BMW to erupt in flames. Moments later, the Tesla struck a blue Freightliner 18-wheeler that was also traveling eastbound. The BMW driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released his identity.
The Tesla driver, a 66-year-old man, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. The semi-truck driver and a passenger were unhurt and remained at the scene to cooperate with investigators.
