San Patricio County, TX (January 29, 2025) – Authorities have identified the two men who died in a head-on collision Sunday evening at the intersection of TX-188 and FM 136, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The victims were identified as Richard Rodeman, 45, of Corpus Christi, and Christopher Lepine, 36, of Portland.
The crash occurred around 7 p.m. on January 26. Officials reported that Rodeman was traveling southbound on FM 136 with a passenger, 23-year-old Shaleigha Rada of Houston, when his vehicle crossed the center line into the northbound lane.
Lepine, who was driving northbound, attempted to swerve left to avoid Rodeman’s car, but the two vehicles collided head-on. The impact caused significant damage to both cars, with Lepine’s vehicle coming to rest in the northbound lane and Rodeman’s car veering off the roadway onto the grass shoulder.
Rodeman and Lepine were pronounced deceased at the scene. Rada sustained serious injuries and was transported to Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi.
Authorities closed TX-188 for approximately three and a half hours to investigate the crash.
