Reeves County, TX (January 31, 2024) – A tragic incident at an oilfield in Texas claimed the life of one worker and left two others injured during fracking operations on Monday. The incident occurred at a well site owned by Permian Resources Corp, where ProPetro Services was conducting operations.
Authorities identified the deceased as Edward Rodriguez, 45, who died after a pressurized device ruptured. The two injured workers were transported to a hospital for treatment.
According to the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office, the accident was caused by a high-pressure line, containing about 9,000 pounds per square inch, detaching from a fracking unit. Investigators recovered a disconnected pipe with valves on both ends.
ProPetro has since suspended operations and shut down the area for a safety investigation. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is also conducting an investigation. No evidence of foul play was found.
